Recipe 01 : Kimchi Mixed Rice
When I want to eat Korean food (WHICH I ate in Jakarta quite regularly), I always miss kimchi because I‘m a big fan!
For you who doesn’t know what it is, Here is the link to know more. This post is about recipe in Mauritius KIMCHI MIXED RICE.
In Mauritius, as far as I know, there is only one Korean Restaurant named Kimchi House. I’ve been there, but it’s kinda pricey and offered in a quite average portion.
In Jakarta, you will eat until your stomach is full. LOL.
Anyways, during my outings, I found this!
KIMCHI PACKED FROM KIMCHI HOUSE
Before I found this, I always wondered if Kimchi House was selling Kimchi in big packages and here it is! The small package!! Yeay!!
And, in order to satisfy my Korean food craze, I decided to make this simple dish that kinda resemblesGimbapbut not rolled. Haha.
It’s my version! I called it KIMCHI MIXED RICE GIMBAP WANNABE XD
KIMCHI MIXED RICE RECIPE :
Serving : 1 portion
Cooked rice ( just measure how much you want to eat )
Kimchi ( kimchi house small package, you can find it at Intermart Bagatelle )
1/4 cup chopped carrots
2 cloves of Garlic
1 Egg, ( add egg according to how many people will eat )
1/2 teaspoon Sesame oil for frying egg and carrot, 1/4 teaspoon for seasoning
White sugar, just a sprinkle ( for that little sweet taste )
Vinegar (any kind) or rice vinegar ( They sell it at any supermarket in Mauritius )
Put the cooked rice in a big bowl (preferably hot steamed one)
Break the egg, add a sprinkle of salt and pepper, then beat it together
Heat the pan and add ½ teaspoon of sesame oil
Fry the beaten egg until well cooked. Remove it from the pan and chop it. Transfer it to the bowl.
Using the same pan, put garlic and chopped carrot, then add a little bit of water to soften the carrot a bit. Remove the carrot and transfer it to the bowl.
In the bowl, put a sprinkle of salt and sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of sesame oil, a little bit of vinegar (if you use a strong vinegar, do not put a lot or else your rice will taste like vinegar T.T)
Mix it well and you can eat it with seaweed like this..
Wrap it and put it all inside your mouth like all korean people eat.
What I usually do is just mix it with rice and yum!
And that’s my simple dish to satisfy my craze.. It’s very simple and kimchi itself already represent Korean food. So, the other ingredients are just an addition to complete the dish.
Note : I usually make it with crab stick also. But I didn’t have it at that time. If you wanna add the crab stick, Stir fry it with carrots and garlic and guaranteed, it will smell good.
